Civil rights activist Deray Mckesson has joined Baltimore’s crowded race for mayor.

Mckesson visited the city’s Board of Elections office an hour before Wednesday’s 9 p.m. ET deadline and formally filed paperwork to join the contest.

“Too often the elected individuals we put our public trust in disappoint us,” he wrote later that evening in a post on Medium titled ”I am running for Mayor of Baltimore.” 

“We have lived through lofty promises and vague plans. We have come to expect little and accept less,” Mckesson continued, adding that he would release a policy platform in the coming weeks. Read more…
